For me it's the other way around, the fact it looks like WA is what's got me interested in the first place.
My sim is up to her ears in adventuring at the moment (Egypt first, now she’s in China) and indeed there’s a lot of running. I actually love that (running, using a bike or a scooter, or a car in France). At one occasion she only had a couple of hours left before going home and she had to deliver some gems that were at the other end of the world. She was never going to make that in time! So I made her teleport. Choice, gotta love it.
(let’s not turn this into a yes or no open world discussion shall we?)
