When you're getting to know a sim not in your household, their thought bubbles give clues to what their traits are. (eg: Don Lothario's thought bubbles kept showing the noncommital icon so I knew he had the trait before my sim "knew")
Also, the "talk to the hand" thought shows up a lot in an awkward conversation.
