Honestly, it's a perfect scam: show people playing Sims 4 and make it look good. People buy the game, realize it's not satisfying and start buying more DLC in a vain attempt to fill in the gaps. Fans can either stick with the game because of the sunken cost fallacy, stay with the franchise out of some some sense of loyalty, or just walk on and make room for the next group of gullible people. Or maybe they can genuinely like what they get and are satisfied, or think that things will get better. But no matter what, the end result is the same: established fans don't need to be satisfied because new ones will replace them. Pokemon's been pulling this scam for years, and they've gotten even more lazy and greedy lately.
And yes, I know there are people who actually like Sims 4 and enjoy playing it. Despite my insults, I'm one of them. But you get what I mean, right? It's all about milking those teenager fun bucks until they become the much less important peripheral audience
