This isn't aimed at any one person, more an observation from this and other similar threads.
Well this game was sold to everyone as a live service, not a game, so maybe yes that should raise the expectations of everybody.
EA doesn’t dump millions of $ every year into global marketing to tell players to go play some other game; and if they do, then the large scale lay offs make absolute sense, because that is not how it is supposed to work at all.
