In an age when vile things are occurring on the Internet, with many teen girls, in particular, the target of jeers for their looks and other such nonsense, I am very much surprised to see Mean Girls being supported anywhere. There is too much MEAN going on. Reminds me of the Slam-Books when I was still in grade school. "Here write in this book," "What is it?" "it's a slam book," "What am I supposed to write?" Something mean about the person." I was young, but I was appalled. Of course, I did refuse to participate, because even at that young age, I knew it was wrong. These days we seem to glorify meanness over kindness. Some think that they can just say whatever, because they're anonymous (behind a computer screen) and that's it's just okay.
For me, now, the fashion doesn't trump the notion that it's just okay to be mean. I will likely not be purchasing either of these kits.
The movie was actually anti-mean in its message. More about dealing with mean girls than glorifying them. But I agree society has too much mean right now!
