I wouldn't compare this to Get Together. In Get Together, the club feature was pretty groundbreaking, none of the other games had ever done anything like that before. It was new and refreshing, which is why youtubers like LGR praised it. Fame and reputation, on the other hand, have been in all 3 past games. Sims 1 had fame, Sims 2 had reputation, and Sims 3 had fame and reputation. So, this isn't going to be some new, never-before-seen feature. It's just a retread of a feature from previous Sims games. They may do it better than previous games, but I'm not sure it deserves a $40 price tag and cutting out other careers.
I think they have give us more info about it. The reputation system in TS3 wasn't as detailed as the one in TS2 and in TS3 the celebrity system was all about socializing with other celebrtities. Seems like the put Superstar and Late Night together with bouncers, VIP areas, celebrities and being part of the movie business as a superstar actor. But this fame system has perks and stuff. I do hope it's not a recycled Vampires power system that would be very saddening.
Small rectification: the celebrity system in TS3 was not entirely based on socializing with other celebrities, you could also earn stars (for a sim with several stars the only way because nobody could impress them anymore) by accepting opportunities handed by an agent. That part I've always liked.
