I suspect the reason why we don't have singing in this pack is possibly down to a few things:

Singing is already a ten level skill with the ability to learn different genres and combined with the higher levels of certain instruments allows you to write songs and sell them. I think but I'm not 100% certain Graham said there are many roads to stardom and that they could get fame from singing, painting etc.

If that's the case then you can still have a famous singer story line all be it without the actual performance part ala the Sims 3 Showtime.

Perhaps the acting career is so out of this world brilliant there was no resources or time left to devote to a fully fledged performing career where you would play concerts, go to the studio to record, form a band.

Maybe after the mess that was Showtime in the aspect you had to go on tour to other players towns they are avoiding that and perhaps we will get a music GP or similar giving you everything above. Graham has said they are keen to ensure that feedback from previous versions of fame and celebrity was taken into consideration.

I'm sure between now and Nov 16 they will address why we don't have an active music career. I said before elsewhere that if the acting career was so fantastic and was the best thing since sliced bread I would be okay with no bands. I think bands would need more Instruments for one thing. I do however think its a little weird to not have an active music career but if your sims can still get famous from singing then that at least makes sense because there are plenty of singers who don't make it, or have record deals. Not every singer is going to be Barbara Streisand.

My sims use the singing skill and instruments a lot in my game. In all my sims games actually because its a fun skill for them to learn and they can make money off it. I play instruments in real life so I like many of my sims playing too even if they don't stick with it.


Time will tell. I'm not saying any of my thoughts are accurate. I have no way to know that. I just don't think its as black and white as telemetry showed no people use them. Lots of surveys mention themes we don't get or perhaps are yet to get. Once upon a time we were told toddlers not being part of the game was "the best decision so far" because telemetry showed them that toddlers were not played with.

Graham said that singing with a high fame level will make it so that bigger crowds get together to watch your sim perform (probably works with any instrument, dj booth included).

You could easily make stages with foundations, especially since they are separate now. But I'm not sure how to keep sims from going up on the stage and make a mess out of routing. Maybe we can now use rope "gates" to stop them from going up the stage.

I hope door locks now have the fame system included. To stop peasants from going up the stages.
