TS4U - Semester 1, Course 3: The Science Of Fiction
University Hub
Welcome to 'The Science Of Fiction'.
The sims' world is a mix of past stories, modern conveniences, future advancements, and celestially-sourced confirmation of a shared existence. This course's purview is an overview of the wilder technical, environmental, and biological side of the sim-verse, from "pseudo-science" to "science fiction".
We Are Not Alone
Playable aliens (Sixamites) of TS4.
The Sixamites from Get To Work have a select few innate abilities: Memory Erase, Empathize, Analyze Personality, Revive, Transmute, and Disguise. "Brain Power" is the hidden motive that acts as the shared cooldown for all powers...except one. Which ability is not governed by "brain power"?
Empathize
Memory Erase
Disguise
Revive
Sixamites glow when feeling strong emotions. Each emotion has a colour relative to its UI, except for 2 which show up as the wrong colours, and 3 which have none. Which of the following does not trigger the glow effect?
Scared
Embarrassed
Uncomfortable
Tense
Sixamites can transmute certain collectibles into others of either the same collection, or those of two relative collections. Their 'Revive' power can also affect one other collection, creating others of said collection. Which of the following groups of collections can be affected by either 'Revive' or 'Transmute'?
Aliens, Geodes, Crystals, Fossils
Fossils, Crystals, Metals, Elements
Aliens, Crystals, Metals, Elements
Aliens, Geodes, Elements, Metals
Mother Dearest
Strangerville's benevolent overseer.
Bizarre plants cause sims to become zombie-like. The temporary state of being "possessed" (due to the fruit) lasts for 3 hours, beginning at what time each day?
10pm
11pm
12am
1am
Obtaining the aforementioned fruit is possible through the nurturing of the bizarre plants at a certain point in the storyline. Where else can one obtain it?
The Mother
The Curio Shop
Evidence Piles
All of the above
The Mother bestows the bounty of replenished life, but can also bestow death to those who...?
Fail to defeat her twice in a row
Defeat her, then revive her
Fail to defeat her once
Try to talk to her without being "possessed"
Into The Future
Technological marvels of the modern age.
The 'Celestial Crystal Crown' (Get Famous) uses the energies of crystals to grant the wearer certain boons. These include: background motive replenishment, full motive locking (whilst the crystal is in), skill gain boosts, mood relief, and some external effects. Which of the following is a motive/need not covered by any crystals currently present in-game?
Energy
Hunger
Bladder
Social
The 'Cloning Machine' (Get To Work) creates perfect copies of items, but only near-perfect copies of sims. Whilst many attributes do carry over to a sim's clone, some do not. Which of the following does not carry over from the original sim?
Fame
Powers
Career
Skills
The 'Satellite Dish' (Get To Work) has some handy, alien-related functions: prevent abductions, contact aliens, and detect local aliens. If on a lot with a television, one can tune in to !#*%&$@%, which is an alien channel. One other function it has is the 'Neighborhood Hivemind', which causes a neighborhood-wide effect on present sims. Which of the following is one of them?
Knockout
Flirt-O-Rama
Sad Town
Free Hugs
I, Robot
All about Servo.
Crafting a Servo requires 165 robot salvage parts. Whilst a hefty ask, there are a few ways of obtaining them. Which of the following is not one of them?
Using the Chemistry Lab
Purchasing online
Digging up metals/minerals
Opening time capsules
Servos' traits can be "reprogrammed" at any point (by sims in the household). There are, however, 6 traits that are not available to Servos: Foodie, Vegetarian, Glutton, Child Of The Islands, Child Of The Ocean, and which other?
Neat
Squeamish
High-Maintenance
Insider
Servos are capable of doing its changes and upgrades on its own, but other sims can access a few of these as well. Which of the following is not a function accessible by other sims?
Reprogram Traits
Rename
Tune Up
Change Appearance

Empathize
Memory Erase
Disguise - Secondary forms are less of a "power", and more of like changing clothes (except cooler in some cases).
Revive
Sixamites glow when feeling strong emotions. Each emotion has a colour relative to its UI, except for 2 which show up as the wrong colours, and 3 which have none. Which of the following does not trigger the glow effect?
Scared - The addition of the "scared" emotion did not come with updates to the alien glow, vampires' Influence Emotion power, and Snowy Escape's "surge emotion".
Embarrassed
Uncomfortable
Tense

Aliens, Geodes, Crystals, Fossils
Fossils, Crystals, Metals, Elements
Aliens, Crystals, Metals, Elements - Elements, metals/minerals, and crystals can be transmuted into any random member of the three collections (elements can be extracted from either crystals or minerals, and analysis of any of the 3 can result in other members of the three). Dead aliens can be revived, making them more valuable (and...you know...lively).
Aliens, Geodes, Elements, Metals
Mother Dearest
Strangerville's benevolent overseer.
Bizarre plants cause sims to become zombie-like. The temporary state of being "possessed" (due to the fruit) lasts for 3 hours, beginning at what time each day?
10pm
11pm
12am
1am - Possession lasts from 1am to 4am per day.
Obtaining the aforementioned fruit is possible through the nurturing of the bizarre plants at a certain point in the storyline. Where else can one obtain it?
The Mother
The Curio Shop
Evidence Piles
All of the above - One can ask The Mother for a fruit (at a certain point in friendship with her), the Curio Shop sells them for 9 simoleons, and certain evidence piles result in "seeds" for the fruits.
The Mother bestows the bounty of replenished life, but can also bestow death to those who...?
Fail to defeat her twice in a row - One can lose once without much consequence, but doing so a second time results in a ghost with spores floating around them.
Energy - No crystal (to-date) replenishes energy. Even the multi-motive crystals state "except energy".
Hunger
Bladder
Social
The 'Cloning Machine' (Get To Work) creates perfect copies of items, but only near-perfect copies of sims. Whilst many attributes do carry over to a sim's clone, some do not. Which of the following does not carry over from the original sim?
Fame
Powers
Career - Each clone starts unemployed, even if the original has a job.
Skills

If on a lot with a television, one can tune in to !#*%&$@%, which is an alien channel. One other function it has is the 'Neighborhood Hivemind', which causes a neighborhood-wide effect on present sims. Which of the following is one of them?
Knockout - This puts all sims to sleep (except the active household) for a period of time. They don't seek out somewhere to do so, they'll just drop like flies.
Flirt-O-Rama
Sad Town
Free Hugs
I, Robot
All about Servo.
Crafting a Servo requires 165 robot salvage parts. Whilst a hefty ask, there are a few ways of obtaining them. Which of the following is not one of them?
Using the Chemistry Lab
Purchasing online
Digging up metals/minerals
Opening time capsules - Time capsules only contain MySims figures.
Servos' traits can be "reprogrammed" at any point (by sims in the household). There are, however, 6 traits that are not available to Servos: Foodie, Vegetarian, Glutton, Child Of The Islands, Child Of The Ocean, and which other?
Neat
Squeamish - The unavailable traits seem to deal with water and food. Squeamish mainly deals with touch, so it's possible that's why it's unavailable. Given Servo's role in the household, it's also possible it was left out due to the potential for having a perpetually-uncomfortable Servo.
High-Maintenance

Reprogram Traits

Tune Up
Change Appearance - Likely the same reason as one cannot change another sim's clothing (they can ask a sim to change, though). Incidentally, one cannot ask a Servo to change clothing.
