Vampires - Teens at School

My teen is a vampire and once, at school, there was an outdoor challenge (play or study). She nearly freaking died. She would have if I hadn't noticed her avatar color. She has an umbrella, and yes, we know there are some issues with it, but being a vampire, doesn't it make sense to have them let her stay indoors? I had to pull her out of school early and that affected her Responsibility rating. In any case, how should I handle this in the future.

If you use the UI Cheats Extension mod, you could just right click on the moodlet to remove it. I have a couple in Selvadorada for the week, and there was heat wave for three days straight, so, naturally, while exploring the jungle, they started burning to death. I just right clicked the moodlet to remove it the crisis was averted. If you don't have the mod (or don't want the mod), there's probably a cheat that will let you remove the moodlet.

Thanks. Yeah, I’m a purist. I don’t use cheats or mods. Or cc for that matter. I prefer have no her come home early, or not g at all, like what would happen in real life, and take the in game penalty. But it shouldn’t happen at all.

Since you don't use cheats or mods, you could try getting her vampire level up high enough to buy at least the first level of the sun resistant perk. Or you could try making the drink that keeps vampires safe while in the sun for a few hours and have her drink it before going to school. She or someone in the household would need to be at level 11 of the vampire lore skill, though, to make the drink.

Many thanks. I did not know about the drink.

Again - vampires will not die at school or work.

OMG! I had no idea. I should really read carl's guides more often I guess.

Ok, guys, here's what I think was happening...

First, she had the two heat traits from the reward store. She got those early on and she was fine.

Second, the first day at school after getting Sun Resist rank 1, she got the Play Outside / Study Outside card. She had never gotten it before! That's when she started to burn.

Third, the first day at school after getting Sun Resist rank 2, she got the Play Outside / Study Outside card again. That's when she started to burn, though not as bad as before.

Lastly, once she got Sun Resist rank 3, she got it AGAIN, and this time was perfectly fine. Has been since.

Summary, I think the devs may have planned this as a test to see if players will remove their sim from school if they began to burn. The strange thing is, the first time I pulled her out, she was at about 10% energy left. The second she got home, it was full again.

Considering they cannot die at school or work, what do you guys think about this? Do you think it was intentional, or should I report it as a bug?
  • I don't think it's a bug, necessarily; I've always thought of it as just a leftover moodlet from when they have to travel in daylight to *get* to school/slash work. However, assuming they get to their destination, it would be nice if it went away while they were supposedly indoors. (This is in reference to them getting there and having that moodlet all day which is what I typically have seen, but it might have been been changed.)

If it's only occurring when they get that "outdoors" chance card and appears at different strengths due to their level of sun immunity, I'd say it's intentional and is actually a quirky little detail. :pensive:
