I 've recently started playing Sims 2 and 3. I was bored with 4 too and after playing the other sims games, I realized it's because Sims 4 is too easy.
I enjoy playing Sims 2 because it's very challenging. It's hard to build up skills when your sims needs deplete so quickly and also need to make friends for promotions.
I've spent a lot of time playing Sims 3. Base game only and I'm loving it. It's challenging and fun.
