There is no reason to use the word CRUISE when describing walking. I don't say "I cruised down the street," unless I'm driving in my car. It just sounds off. No one says "I cruised down the beach" or " cruising in the countryside" unless it describes driving. There is no other reason for them to use that word. If they really used that word to describe walking, then I would question if English is even their first language. It either has to mean cars, or it refers to riding boats, motorcycles or some other type of transportation.
Or, they could have just used cruise thoughtlessly and not imagined the implications, which I think would be pretty silly for them to do..
