Update: I know this is technically a different genre of the sims series but sims mobile has the ability to not only work actively as a barista but I’m currently on a job involving the fashion industry. Yes it’s on a smaller platform yet they have the time and software to create alternate job options for mobile versions of the sims, yet not the pc for an expansion released ABOUT JOBS.
I know this isn’t much of an update but I just wanted to use this as an example as to WHY EA need to step up and patch the expansion to be better, especially when they’ve just proven they have the ideas In their folders.
This is an off track side comment but it’s needed to add to the argument involving GTW.
Feel free to add to this, again just something I felt should be registered
Regarding to the Fashion Career, based on the platforms that The Sims Mobile and The Sims 4, The Sims Mobile is a lot more simpler compared to The Sims 4. For example there isn't a skill for DJ, and less options than the PC Version. If they will introduce the fashion career in the game then it will need to have depth. Even at the animations. While in The Sims Mobile they will only on be variation of an specific animation, if they did it on The Sims 4 they will animate that one animation multiple times for a sad, happy, angry, etc sim based on their emotions. Not to mention they will have to create tons of new design of clothing to accommodate the new object. Don't forget about multitsking, and lastly the moodlets that the sims will receive. Lastly they will need to create objects that are related to that career, such as fashion career themed objects, career rewards, etc.
Completely respect that, Mobile/phone vs Console/PC are each their own very different areas in the gaming design category, they both require completely different forms of software and DATA to create content and I am in no way saying they are similar at all, nor that one is easier than the other despite one being a simpler version, all I am saying is that simpler version of what is based on the sims 4 has content the sims 4 for PC/Console does not. I am aware they've left a good chunk of actual sims 4 content out and right now simmers are having a debate regarding Sims freetime and the point of Sims mobile.
What I am saying is why was fashion not considered while making the sims 4 expansion pack GTW when, despite being a toned down variation, Sims mobile has it, meaning the idea has been thrown around yet not added. Yes staff have plenty on their plate now and have had for a long time as we've seen with the work they put into toddlers, showing they have been busy since the games first release, but again, why was the idea not added previously? Sims mobile is a lesser version but I feel they've put content or the hint of content into that game, a version of sims we didn't really need, when they could have spent the last few years working on the many many packs for the PC and now console versions.
Obviously they have different departments for each console, I don't fool myself thinking it's one big room for ALL the sims games, expansions, game packs, mobile games, etc, no, I have enough sense in my head to know they have many different rooms with many different things happening. But in the idea area where they must all come together to discuss topics, why was Sims mobile and it's content a thought while a series they are currently working on was not? or given half a thought opposed to the latter.
I do see what you're saying and understandably with EA's thing for not spending enough time on anything for it to be decent plays a big part in all of this, but why did they work on sims mobile and put ideas, lesser versions yes, into that game, again, a game we didn't need, rather than make GTW what it was meant to be? A game about work! Yes with every job and topic they'd need realistic animations and content and everything would need to have its own special aspect or else there would be no point as well as everything would have to smoothly multitask and if it didn't it meant release would have to be pushed back, but then that said...why have they worked on so many stuff and game packs rather than focus on expansions? there's alot explaining why GTW is the way it is, but that in itself raises more questions. GTW could have been amazing if they just focused on it rather than create the Sims mobile with it's hint at content, new and recycled.
Sorry for going off on a ramble, Extremely hard to stay on track without a million other side things appearing.
