For example: I was spamming in those 'subtle saucer' lights everywhere until after time I realized all I had to do was adjust the brightness and contrast on my screen instead. Then it was insane and had to get rid of the too many lights! Also, for what things look like, skin tone for example, the colour setting on the in-game lights make a big difference. The simple changes are from "neutral" to "cool" (blueish) or to "warm" (yellowish) for white light. Angles and shades of the lights (including the outdoor light) make a difference too!

For me the problem is definitely hair. The poor range of hair colour was always a problem, but it doesn’t work great at all now. Hair needs a serious overhaul so that new natural skin tones actually look good in combination with a more varied and natural looking selection of hair options.
I also believe that the skin detail menu should get a brush option like Cats & Dogs’CAP, so we can brush on our own layer of freckles, vitiligo, rosy cheeks, scabs, scratches etc. More variations are needed on all fronts, especially if this game is going to remain in production for another good while, as the developers suggest.
I don’t play with families as such, but if genetics is now an issue that does need to be fixed for sure.
