Why do my sims have to stand in front of the coffee maker while coffee brews? Can't they go ahead and use the bathroom, start cooking, or generally get something done during that time? Same with the ...

so im pretty sure, IMO at least, they fell short. they take forever to do anything (i dont mod), they take forever to cancel an action, they dont remember and their emotions are another topic altogether.
im all for being able to do other things while food bakes, and beverages brew and if we forget and the food burns or the beverage gets cold well thats some added realism right there.
when the kettle is boiling for my coffees im on the computer or watching tv, or cleaning something and if i forget thats all good coz i can turn the kettle back on and this time id stand there so as to not forget a second time.
we have timers for the food that takes a while to cook. if we get there too slow when the timer beeps and its overcooked/burnt thats on us
i think if we want to leave something on when our sims are finished we should have a 'stop using but leave on' option. i often walk away from my computer or tv and leave them on if i have something quick that needs doing, and then resume where i left off; its a hassle, especially the computer, turning things back on every 10-15 mins some days. if our sims could play music through the tv or computer theyd be on all day.
Yeah they overhyped the key features trying to cover the games shortcomings, which outnumbered any new ideas the game offered. There were so many miscommunicated selling points that ultimately it showed even the studio didn’t quite know what players were going to end up with - and in the end we didn’t even end up with exactly what their own advertising made the game out to be.
