I'm no developer, but I think another issue for MWS is that it was very ambitious in what it wanted to do, but it broke the rules of King Autonomy. Sims just aren't meant for sitting and focusing on one thing for very long.
I know nothing about developing either but I think MWS had alot of systems that they had to implement from scrtch meaning more bugs whereas Werewolves could build on existing systems (vampire traits, spellcasters magic/rage maxing). This means they could spend more time really working on the lore and interactions. Whatever is was they really knocked it out of the park with this one, it is really fantastic.
I love how well fleshed out the werewolves are as well. The interactions, esp with other occults, and just random day to day effects.....it does make for some very angry little kids though!LOL
