There used to be a place in what is now East Tennessee called Outlaw's Cove. Through some research I learned that no, this wasn't called such because outlaws were holed up there, but rather a person with the surname of Outlaw more or less discovered and/or lived there. So, if you're looking for an unusual surname of unknown origins, there you go. ;)
