What are some in-game items/features you find ridiculously overpriced?

I'll start.

The Aqua-Zip from Island Living has 5 add-ons and 14 colour options that you can either pay for in live mode, or switch freely in Build/Buy. Regarding the aforementioned addons, we have the music player for 1k, which is cool. The rest are frivolous things like flames (1k), fireworks (500), and colour-changing light-up trimming (500). Obnoxious maybe, but not that bad, given they kind of look cool.

Then we have streamers. For a whopping 500 simoleons, you can add streamers to your Aqua-Zip. Does this addon make it shoot streamers and confetti alongside the fireworks and flames? No. Does it enable some sort of hidden camera that acts as a prototype to Get Famous' drone? No. Does it have huge ribbons that make it look like a jumping fish as your sim performs tricks? No. Does it spawn in-game versions of sims youtubers on skis, riding behind you? No. So what does it do?

At first when I'd bought this addon, I figured it was one of those broken features Maxis would never deign to fix, lost and forgotten by even the community...nope. Turns out that for 500 hard earnt coins, you too can have two thin, semi-transparent ribbons coming out of your handlebars.

I...I feel robbed, and I didn't even pay real money for them. Do you know the things I can get with 500 simoleons? I need a moment alone, a stiff drink, and a lawyer.

The Selvadoradans could learn a thing or two from the people of Sulani. Imagine selling aerosol-based anti-bug solutions for under 100 simoleons instead of barely-visible 500-simoleon ribbons. Tragic.

Aerosols are bad for the environment. Plus you need to hold on to the jetski and can't use them during riding it.

Pretty sure if a sim is being harassed by flies while riding their Aqua-Zip, they're not riding it right. :lol:

Yes, it does look a bit as if the engine was damaged. That's what I used the fireworks for in the story the pics are from.

I want to see the fireworks - never noticed any options for the aquazip - are they new?

Add-ons (and colours) are available for purchase when the Aqua-Zip is in a sim's inventory. They've been a feature since Island Living came out, looking into Google's results.

Regarding colours, the Zip has 14 swatches, of which 7 are plain colours accented with a bit of white ($200 each), and 7 are multi-coloured patterns ($300 each).

For addons, @EnkiSchmidt already showed off the Flames and Fireworks. I showed off the "Streamers" (don't get me started on that) and Music Player. Here are the Lights it cycles through automatically:

All addons are controlled by a panel (like with the DJ Booth and such objects) only usable when riding. The music player is the only addon that stays on even after dismounting/putting the vehicle away.

One tip: The available Zips are $2,100 and $2,500. There's no difference between the two (save that one comes in a plain blue, and the other is in a shark pattern by default). There is only one Aqua-Zip (in build mode), but for some reason it was put up twice in the vending machines. Even accounting for the Shark-patterned one's extra $300 cost in live mode, it doesn't explain the extra $100.

Oh, and here's everything enabled:

@crocobaura Apparently if one looks close enough at the streamers they tend to change colour. Doesn't make them any more visible, but "woo" for the much-lauded feature. Definitely worth an entire tent now, amirite?
