The computer is the hardest thing, since you need it to order things from time to time. And not having a fridge will mean having to fix every meal. I'm rather looking forward to playing this, in any case - it'll be a fun challenge.
For the laptops, you can have them travel to the library every now and then.
Plus you can take them with you and set them other tables and desks. As most people have their sims travel, that would be a good time to use it. It would be nice if you can set them down or use them anywhere outside the lot. That would really make them come in handy.
