I think it's all valid. The Sims isn't just some game that popped up out of nowhere in the last couple years. It's been around for about 2 decades. The Sims 4 costs upwards of $700+ for all the content and I think fans are justified in their criticisms. I don't see it as complaining so much as people wanting a game they've poured hundreds of dollars and hours into playing to be better than what it is. The Sims 4 has been notorious for lacking basic gameplay features that made The Sims - The Sims 3 so fantastic. Each of those generations of the game brought something totally new to the franchise and The Sims 4 in many ways has taken steps back time and time again. They've also taken previous Expansion Packs and broken them down into multiple packs.
The Sims 3 Ambitions = The Sims 4 Get to Work/Laundry Day Stuff
The Sims 3 University Life = The Sims 4 Discover University/Bowling Night Stuff
The Sims 3 Supernatural = The Sims 4 Vampires/Realm of Magic
The Sims 3 Pets = The Sims 4 Cats And Dogs (just cats and dogs...)
The Sims 3 Late Night/Showtime = The Sims 4 City Living/Get Famous
I think this thread contributes to the complaining you're talking about but that doesn't mean that you're feelings/points aren't any less valid.
