Which is completely reasonable. Sims 3 packs were a mess.
None of the Supernatural occults were intresting to play. Shouldn't have crammed them all in one Expansion.
Celebrities in the NL were a nuisance. I much prefer Get Famous system.
And Get to Work open careers are so much better than the Ambitions ones. + GtW introduced busyness which none of Sims 3 expansion did.
I have my complaints about the Sims 4, but packs is not one of them, sims 4 packs are the best.
I agree, I've been preferring the Sims 4 way of doing things. And I bought and played all the Sims 3 expansions. I like the more focused approach to the Sims 4 packs but that's a personal opinion. I do feel that some features, like the vampires and spellcasters, get more fleshed out when they have their own packs, rather than crammed into an EP (thinking of aliens, mermaids and plant sims here.)
Complaints by way of constructive criticism make sense. The threads I do enjoy reading are the ones where the complaint is described and the best ones I've ever read are where ideas are presented to resolve the complaint. Those are fantastic threads and not what I'd call complaints really; constructive feedback is a better term.
Similarly the positive threads. When a thread is talking about a feature the OP likes and explains WHY, or how they use it, they're a joy to read. I often find them fairly inspiring for my own gameplay.
I agree that the sort of comments like 'Sims 4 sucks' without any real explanation as to WHY an individual feels like that don't help and can, I think, contribute to the air of 'toxicity' 'negativity' or whatever you wish to call it.
The majority of the 'complaining' seems to be in the feedback section of the forum, which is pretty much what it's there for :D The thing with a game like the sims is that almost every opinion is subjective; Simmer A might find babies being objects to be a major frustration and a serious point of criticism but Simmer B might not be bothered by it. Both opinions are valid though because we're all different and we all play the game differently. What's a lousy feature to Simmer A could be really exciting for Simmer B.
To conclude, when someone's giving useful feedback about the game, it's just that; feedback, whether it's praising the game, criticising a feature or the way it's presented or suggesting ideas for improvements. If you're enjoying the game (as I do), it can sometimes look like complaining when it's not something that bothers you. Lately I've been taking the time to read through the complaints about certain features and I can see the point.
Having said all of that, there will always be some who will complain for the sake of it. I usually just don't respond to them because we'll have a difference of opinion and there probably won't be much of a discussion to be had :D <3
