The only people who use dorms in Australia seem to be international students, and students from rural or remote areas, but only in their first year of uni. After that first year, anyone who isn't still living at home moves into some form of share housing. In the first year, people make friends. Uni students are well known for cramming many people into a share house. Had some friends in a 3 br house, they ended up with 7 people living there!
Oh lol, I relate with this! I lived in an apartment my second year. Three of us shared a small one-bedroom apartment, so one person basically slept in the closet!
