What does convert 5 Sims into Full Grown Vampires mean

I was just wondering about the vampire family aspiration. Carl's Guide says that you have to train 3 offspring. As I saw in another discussion, the offspring probably means sims my vampire has turned ...

I don't really know about the suspense. I like to keep my vampires safe, and let them go out only at night :)
