Yikes, new forums don't take BB code? Or HTML?!?!

Sad news this day, as Daniel Pleasant has joined his late wife Mary Sue in the Great Beyond. He lived as successful a life as can be imagined, having achieved both a happy and fruitful marriage, as well as great success in career and politics. He was one of King Tybalt’s closest friends, and two of his oldest daughters both reached high nobility, while two others both have places in the king’s government. Leadership of the House of Pleasant falls upon his grandson, Daniel Pleasant III, but as he has just begun middle school the Council has declared that Jesse Pleasant should act as regent of the House and guardian of his nephew until such time as young Danny comes of age. Presumably Jesse resents being forced to raise the very lad who will one day replace him, but Jesse married extremely well and is regarded by the King as an up-and-comer with great potential. No doubt when he has to establish his own House, it will be a success.

In happier but surprising news, Michael Goth has proposed to Jessica Pleasant, the daughter of Juliette (Capp) Pleasant. As the most eligible bachelor in town, everyone assumed that Michael (future heir of the House of Goth) would marry Princess Contessa, far and away the realm’s most eligible bachelorette. When asked about his decision, Michael said that he and Jessica had both ‘fallen in love’. Oh, this young generation, marrying for love instead of politics. Silly, silly. The proposal is doubly embarrassing for Princess Contessa because her sister Princess Annie-Laurie has just married into one of the Outland’s once-prominent families, the Beakers. King Tybalt is no doubt anxious to more firmly establish Capp presence in the Outlands given that his alliance with the Grunts fell apart after virtually all of the Grunts died to the wolves. True, Lady Lilith has been a friend of the Capps, but with the Montys making moves one can never rest on one’s laurels.

Dame Violet pedaling about. Maggie Smith on a bicycle, gotta love Sims.

Dame Violet & Princess Contessa about to get their chess on
Still, the Princess has found a way to rebound. She was asked by the Crawley family to be the caretaker to their aging matriarch, Dame Violet. The matriach was moved into a small cottage in Verona, and Princess Contessa is now keeping her company there, as well as cooking and hosting little family dinners. Contessa has quickly won over the Crawley family, especially the eldest daughter Mary. [*] Contessa is an interesting figure in the Realm: at first sight, the perfect eldest child of the king, with exquisite social, dancing, singing, and painting skills. She has her great-aunt Regan’s political cunning, though, and is extremely interested in managing the family’s investments. That sort of interest was fine for her mother – who, after all, was more middle class and elevated into the aristocracy – but it’s a little tacky for a Princess of the Realm. Ah, well.

One of Malcolm's bachelor pads.
The Landgraab-Monty marriage appears to be off, though Bianca gave no reason for it. One suspects that Malcolm’s motives and Bianca’s were irreconcilable: Bianca wanted Malcolm’s money to help rebuild the Monty family, but Malcolm rather liked his money for making more money. There is also the possibility that Bianca received another offer that she liked better – or that Malcolm suddenly spotted a more promising prospect. Only time will tell!
[*] Yes, I dropped in the Crawley family from Downton Abbey. Needed more aristocrats for socializing. My current aristos have so inter-married that it’s getting rather hard to find dates. The good news is that without flu and cars, Sybil and Matthew should live nice long lives. Amusingly, the Dowager Countess has become a PC gaming nut.
