I think happiness should be less frequent. It's an emotion like the others, and default irl generally is something more like content, as you said. I've thought about the levels, too. I think it'd be cool if it could have three, like some of the other. Like happy -> joyful -> ecstatic. Because sometimes I have sims who have a baby, get married, have a promotion, etc all near each other and are "very happy" and I don't think that does the situation justice. I'm also all for replacing every "very" emotion with another synonym that's more intense than the first level.
