I have this personal running joke where I say, "maxis doesn't know what black is," or, "maxis doesn't know what white is." it's because everything that's "black" or "white" is... well, not black or white. they are dark grey and light grey with bluish undertones... so like dark slate and light slate. the whites look as though you washed them in a load full of dark clothing, and the blacks look like their color has faded because of sun exposure. I found it very frustrating when I saw it, and I still do just because I don't feel like recoloring every single item in the game to make actual white and black. I HAVE recolored some, and other people have recolored some as well, but I mean... we shouldn't have to, you know? It's the same with hair. This has been a long-standing issue. Every time that there's a Sims game, aside from TS3, the same issue crops up. Black hair is the worst. However, since I learned to recolor, I do give EA some slack on white. It is really, really difficult to get a nice white without the hair or clothing looking blown out. Also, the detail starts to get lost. I'm not sure how to solve that issue. Still, EA could go whiter than they have been. Their "white" is very gray. As well, there is no consistency in the whites (or blacks) across the board.

what bothers me the most, is that, for example: you have a shirt. lets say its "black", and then you wanna put the MATCHING pants. its not the same "black" as the "black" shirt black!

I agree on the white but the black needs highlights. You loose all the layers in the hair when you make it solid black

Can barely see any of the hair textures when it's that black for the hair and the white is really white like hurt my eyes white. :# They have done some clothing with more appropriate black shades and same with white. A lot of the older clothing I wish were a bit darker and didn't look more like a bluish black. I've think they've done better with the colors though in some recent clothing, but an appropriate black that's not blue or too black would be great since most tops and bottoms won't even match with one another.

This! This is my problem - the mismatched shades when coordinating outfits. Works my last nerve I swear lol.

YES! And buildings and decorative items as well. It applies to all colors, but especially black and white items!

That's very strange that some of you aren't able to see the true black's highlights. Then again, my computer is a gaming rig. XD

Like I mentioned above, it all depends what resolution your monitor and game is using. I'm not on my gaming computer in this forum so my resolution is lower. When someone's resolution is lower you loose details

I've been working with photoshop for over ten years, so usually if the details get too whited out, i'll use the dodge tool to lighten areas I want to be lighter. like up top in my post, that white shirt? I didn't do that, but you can't see the bow. i would've separated the bow to make sure it didn't lighten the same amount.
