I have sort of just given up on TS4.
Not sure if I'll ever update again, which means I obviously won't be able to buy any more DLC either, which is ok because I use mods and CC and really the only thing I'd miss are new worlds because EA is so greedy and won't let us create custom worlds. But their worlds are just way too full of pretty set dressing with nothing to do in them anyway (or it's all rabbit hole stuff).
I've spent the last few days downloading updated mods in anticipation of updating the game (for fixing the c-rap that was broken or junk that was introduced that I don't want) and finding new mods that sound interesting.
I started creating a spreadsheet of all of my mods I've downloaded and the version/release date to keep track of it and as of right now, I have 328 mods JUST TO FIX STUFF or make it more enjoyable! That is ridiculously insane to me! Not in any of the other versions of past sims games did I EVER have more than just a handful of mods to fix things or enhance things because the gameplay was soooo much better!
I don't see the game ever improving, not ever. Everything they introduce always sounds great but it is always so bare-minimum with no thought put into the actual gameplay aspects of it, but hey! Look at all of the great BB, CAS, and beautiful looking worlds they created!
If hobby modders were the ones who put these packs out, I could understand the lack of depth in them because you know, the majority of them didn't go to school for coding, animations, 3D modeling, etc. But we're talking about a AAA game company here! It's unacceptable!
I blame simmers (including myself) for the state that TS4 is in. If the community had balked from the beginning at the sheer lackluster game play aspects and how skimpy everything was (and still is) and spoke that message with their wallets, then EA would know they needed to do better. But, by hungrily eating up every thing that is ever put in front of them (and a lot of times, knowing it's a broken mess but still buying it for the world, the CAS, the BB items) that just sends a message to EA that it's ok, we're gonna whine and complain about how horrible it is, but we're still gonna open our wallets up and wait patiently for a some day fix.
I've spent the last week reading about the patch issues, reading about the bugs, the odd gameplay mechanics that have been implemented and I'm just not wanting to deal with that.
So I've decided to push myself away from the table because I'm full, I don't need to hungrily eat up any more DLC right now. I'm going to mod my game up to make it behave as I want, fix annoying issues that have been way too long in the game, add exciting new gameplay elements from talented and caring modders and enjoy what I can within this very limited customizable game.
