What last name do you give the babies of unmarried sims?

I'm playing The Island Challenge and am debating over which last name to use for any babies my unmarried sims may have. Do you usually use the mother's last name, the father's or a hyphenated combinat...

I think they should hyphenate the name because they're raising the child together
