Seasons for me is just as much about experiencing the old game play in new ways as new game play objects and interactions. When we get seasons, my sims will live their lives in a completely new way. They will have their meals outside when it's warm enough and cosy up in front of the fireplace when it's freezing. They'll have an outdoor wedding in the spring with blossoming trees and they'll take a family vacation to Granite Falls in autumn to fish and harvest herbs. They'll place the slip'n'slide and the kiddie pool in the garden for the summer and invite friends and cousins over. A romantic walk on the beach in the summer sunset or in the snow with some star gazing and snow angels can end in a beautiful proposal. I understand if this isn't interesting enough to some, but to me it means everything to my game experience.
Therefore, the most important feature in this pack to me is not whatever game play objects are added, but the overall change of scenery around my sims' lives. Something that gives me an incentive to change up my game play, gives me a stronger feeling that time is passing. So first of all, the seasonal changes and weather effects need to be amazing. Secondly, we need some basic interactions for each seasons like snow ball fights and raking leaves. If that's all in order, I'm good. If we get even more, great!
And can I just say this calendar and custom holiday tool that some of you seem less impressed about really seems like a game changer to me. It gives us so much more control! We can actually plan birthdays, family reunions, wedding anniversaries and whatever else we wish ahead of time. No more last minute event planning.
Also, I fully agree with @littlemissgogo about consciously spending money on a game you know you enjoy even though you objectively think it could have been more impressive. I'm an adult too, I've played this game since I was a child in 2000, I know what I like about it and what I expect from it. And I know when to let the game be the game and focus on more important things in my life.
