What Sim character trait is most important to you, and why?

What is the one trait that you find yourself using the most, and how does it affect your gameplay?

Most of my games are just for fun and laughs, and so I love the "erratic" trait. I will place Blarffy, Drago and Uni at points in and around the property, and it's great fun to watch my Sim go out and tell them a story, try to cheer them up, or just yell at them. Or sometimes they will just tell a story to the weeds...

  • I mostly use the family and creative traits. My game play almost always goes in a direction to where the sim works their way up/marries rich and has a few kids so both those traits have really helped the stories I've created.
  • I love a lot of them, but negative ones usually make the Sims most fun to play. I currently like erratic, evil and loner the most. I guess my all time favorite is erratic.
My mind changes a lot on what traits I like the most. Loves outdoors is a great one also because I have a lot of gardener Sims.
Nowadays I most often randomize the traits when my Sims age up in game. It's fun to get some weird trait combinations.
  • Yeah most traits don't impact gameplay thaaaat much but I do like:
    * Family-oriented sims, because it's cute how happy they are spending time with their families
    * Cheerful, because they are playful and happy a lot (and I use mods to reduce happiness in other sims :D)
    * Lazy, because it's a trait that works very well with some packs, like laundry day. You can be sure these sims will never autonomously put their laundry in the hamper
    * Hot-headed because I love how they get riled up by random small things like the windchimes :D
    * Erratic & Childish because they're both noticeable enough
  • It depends on what kind of Sim I plan for them to be, or the gameplay type in a challenge. However, the majority of my Sims start out Rags to Riches style and I almost always give them loves outdoors.

Creative Sims get creative for inspiration, genius for those who need to be focused. Sims placed in an area without a park, minimal plants to harvest or no vendors, might get the glutton trait so they can rummage for food. Love the animations for this trait, it's hilarious how much they adore food! :D

The loner, erratic (which I love to no end) and childish traits are good for social needs in various ways. Erratic also has the 'shower in the rain' action to fill hygiene, so that's another plus. I like dance machine for the 'disco nap' option. It fills the energy bar very quickly. Unfortunately, the constant dance animation when idle is extremely annoying so I don't use it very often.

I've used almost all the traits for my Sims over the years (except mean, evil & hates children) but, my favorite and most important trait will always and forever be loves outdoors with creative/genius tied for second place and erratic third.
  • Right small addition: if I want to make real living off the land, free-loathing, will-never-have-a-job sims, I actually quite like the new Freegan trait as well.

I actually like the "dancing in place" thing they do, I've known people in real life that do that lol

  • I always use genius and good but the 3rd depends on the Sim. I most often use creative, but sometimes I substitute athletic, or since Eco came out, one of the Eco traits (to go along with the aspiration I want them to have.) I like my Sims to have excellent, drama free lives and those traits seem to give the best buffs and whims for how I like to play.
  • I like all my sims to be completely different, but each will generally have (strictly) 1 emotional trait, 1 negative trait and the last something really specific to their story / envisaged personality. Agree that negative traits add contrast to each personality, have never actually used Evil but Mean, Hot Headed and Hates Children absolutely! Low key negatives like Squeamish and Clumsy are also fun. The only other trait I have restrictions around is Child of the Island, limited to Islander natives and their descendants.

Also love incorporating the Parenthood inherited traits, if I haven't played with the sim from childhood I'll cheat specific traits based on their "backstory" which always keeps things interesting.
