whilst I prefer single storey, if space is a bit cramped (due to being a small lot or whatever), I'd rather add an extra level. I am NOT a fan of the whole tiny home thing, except when starting out.
I've been using basements a bit in recent times, so you can always get that extra space by going down rather than up!
