What did you first think of the art style?
Hated it. Too soft and washed out.
Thoughts on the closed world?
I didn't mind. I was still playing Sims 2, and I'm actually playing Sims 2 right now. I did wish (and still do) for a more open area within a certain radius, but I don't mind the closed world.
What surprised you the most?
I don't remember, but I would guess just how much I didn't like it. I've been playing since Sims 1 and loved all of them, except Medieval. I didn't buy it because it wasn't something I wanted. But Sims 4 was just... a let down.
Which missing features did you covet the most?
Aside from the missing items that had been base game before, normal telescopes, and any compelling reason at all to go to a community lot.
What were your impressions of the emotion system?
Too easily changeable, fleeting, no depth to them at all. No real impact on gameplay.
Were you able to continuously play without getting bored?
No. I tried the game a few times but could never get into it. I ended up not touching it again until GTW came out, then I tried it again. Same problem. I ended up not playing it again until 2019.
