I like a lot of ideas in this thread.
I think these overhauls could really improve the game
Genetics: I love the show simsDNA cheat in sims 2. You could really see dominant and recessive genes of your sims. And blond hair could actually skip a generation. I really miss this in sims 4. And proper genetics for strange hair colors as well, if a child can inherit his parents blue skin, he should be able to inherit the matching hair.
Traits: I would like for traits to have more impact in the game. It would be nice if they offered new gameplay options like the kleptomaniac trait. Perhaps allow a 4th trait for adults and elders, just to show they have more life experience then young adults
More meaningfull emotions: I like emotions as a gameplay element, but there are to many random facts influencing them, they switch way to fast. I think they just point out very painfully the fact that sims have absolutly no memory in this game. A features which is essential in my oppinion.
community lots: The best scenario would be sims 2 type community lots, where you don't have to choose a type. But at the very least it would be nice if NPC-spawning objects like bars, food stalls and baristas would work on all community lots.
careers: I like the work from home option. It would be nice if it would work with all careers
Likes/Dislikes: It's nice to be able to pick likes to give sims more personality. A menu in CAS for likes would be great. Or at the very least a tab in the simbology panel where we can see which likes are already chosen
Whims: I loved the wants and fears in sims 2. They were tied in with my sims life. If you gained a skill point, you were likely to get a wish to improve that skill. If you got engaged, you got a wish to get married... and so on. They also depended on aspirations, perhaps they can be more trait based in sims 4. It's redicolous to spanw a whim "own object x" for the sole reason of not having one.
Babies: Babies should be sims, not objects.
Pets: allow us to see a pets needs, traits and relationships
