Otherwise, you do have to have a fire alarm and the suppression box somewhere on your lot in order to get sprinklers to come out during fires.
Ahh, I did put a sprinkler in the garden for my Sims to play in during the summer- does that automatically start them if there's a fire in the house?! That's a random coincidence that stopped my house burning down if so, and really quite awesome! Thanks!
