LOL, @VeeDub, that is a bit strange and you're not the only one with an odd number for married sims. @logion also has that. I didn't catch how odd that is until you pointed it out, but it is very odd.
I have a married Sim in my current game married to a ghost, makes me want to cull her husband just to see if she still shows as married. I've never paid attention to that before.
I'm pretty sure you are right that they don't, though, because MCCC will re-marry off a sim once their spouse dies and is released to the netherworld. In my current game the Creature Keeper married Katerina Caliente initially, but after she died and her ghost was released, MCCC married him to Agatha Crumplebottom.
