I'm out of town for 3 weeks, so I can't check the size of my save file and never did, but I'll try to remember checking it when I return :) And if I'm brave enough - it's my only save file being played since 2014, so it might be about to explode ...
Never mind. I can wait for your reply when you have a chance to check. But thinking about the file that had been played since 2014 and still survived. It's so amazing! (I heard the case that someone can't open the file again, may be mod-related.)
I reread your reply and if I understand right, 740 includes many kinds of sims including pets. Sorry for my confusion. 😂
Yes, I think the count includes pets. I think there might be about 40 played pets incl. horses in my game.

I haven't played cats and horses in my household yet, only tried having dogs in one family. Many pets in my save are strays that were generated randomly. If I can know about the current sim count limit, I want to add more pets too.
