Where is the rock climbing?
At first I wasn’t sure even how to get to the ski spots but as my sim was staying in one of the snowy lots they were able to just walk over without traveling — which is excellent! — but I can’t figure...

Yes, you travel there if you are in the other areas. For rock climbing, you go to the area where the vending machines are and just look for the mountain 'wall. If you are looking at the vending machines I think it's to the left and up a little bit.
