I used a dog and a cat in TS4 and I found that the dog has to have a lot more attention because you have to give them baths and pet them and everything like that, but you get to train them and show the tricks off to other sims. Where as, the cats wake you up and rip out the couch and lick from the puddles, I prefer the cats because they do what ever they want and sleep on their huge cat playground. The dogs just wait for you and love you and it’s adorable... until you step in their poop... but I can see why people would like dogs more as they offer more into the game, but if you want to own a job from get to work or become a vet clinic then choose a cat because they require much less work, if you can teach them to not wake you up! I did enjoy playing with both in the same household, it just takes up a lot of time which I don’t have as I need to keep up my sims needs and possibaly expand my family tree.
