What is your interpretation?
Do you live in one of these real world places and do you feel my assessment fits? :D
If you could live in one Sims 4 world which would it be and why?
My interpretation is that they are Sim Nation places, not real world places. I don't like associating my Sims with reality, it takes the fun out of it for me. Loosely based, sure, a little, but anything could be a Sim reality in my game, anything could happen. It's very freeing that way.
I agree with this. My list was only meant to convey where I think the inspiration comes from, not how I think of the worlds in game. I think the worlds are inspired by real places, but not meant to be literal interpretations of them. I play them as their own locations in a fictional sim world, not real representations of actual locations. Getting hung up on what they are supposed to represent is also why we have so much controversy over what areas of the world get included. If I approach the game as if the sims don’t live in our world, that their world is just a vague simulation of ours, their world can be literally anything. That’s also why I hope the devs never put real world spoken dialogue in the game. I want my sims to live in their own world, have their own customs and eccentricities, and speak their own language*. I don’t want them to be bad imitations of our world.
*Edit to add, this is also why I avoid cc with real world logos or typography.
