Agreed with the witch disappointment. The problem with RoM is that most spells aren't magical, fantastical feats. They're just cheats for mundane things, or recycling things we already have. And most of the time, they don't even have cool effects to make them feel special - food just appears, broken objects are just fixed, revived sims just appear without fanfare. Broom-riding is just teleporting, familiars do nothing, magic duels all look the same.
Vampires feel more special and unique. You can immerse yourself more with them, you can customize them way more than you can with witches, they have a lot of cool powers (some of which are shared with witches, if watered down heavily), and they even have dark forms to open up a huge avenue of CAS options.
