Downloaded a recolor, and I fell off the wagon. Now, I'm rapidly catching up to the amount of CC I had before (1000+). I'm trying to limit myself to "maxis match" items this time and make sure I disable (most) of them for random sims, at least.
This reminds me of the CC overhaul I'm currently in the middle of. I deleted everything and started over with a fresh batch of CC and some oldies. At first it seemed daunting but I'm actually enjoying the process.
I do this every few months or so. I really like going completely fresh with the CC. You find new stuff that way I generally don't take out any skin details like skins or freckles or my eyes but I clean out all the rest of the CAS & Build Buy and start completely fresh. The last time I even took out my tray file and save files and started from a fully complete slate. It really helped completely freshen up my head space where the game is concerned and could start fresh. I don't think I'd go that extreme again at least not anytime soon since I'm enjoying all my current saves. My current save relies on a LOT of CC (it's a Berry save) so I can't see myself clean slating anytime soon but maybe once that save is over I'll do it again because I really enjoy it.
It's interesting because each time I clear out my CC folder and start fresh I tend to focus on different things. This time my collecting is definitely focused more on Hair and Clothing while the last time I was more after Build/Buy stuff the time before that was more accessories and makeup. I only rarely re-add stuff from the previous time though there are a few hairs out there that I just love and pretty much make their way back into the pile every single time. Guess I just can't live without them lol.
That's what I do, too. I remove out the saves, too. Basically, each family I've played would have its own rather large CC folder .. I didn't really notice it coincided with a schedule until you mentioned it. It's about the same for me. Problem is, at least for me, it can be a bit daunting returning to the older saves considering I'd have to weed out CC and update/possibly remove script mods all over again to make the save playable.
It's funny you say that. By Berry you mean the unnatural skin colors, right? I just downloaded those skintones and was thinking about starting over again (even though I *JUST* did) by basically removing some of the items that didn't fit the theme and focusing on getting and making more pastel items.
Yeah that's what I mean. If you do decide to do a save I recommend either putting all the berry hair colors in one folder or making sure they're marked as disabled for random using S4S because I currently have brightly colored hair currently showing up on townies in my "normal" saves which is fine in small numbers but not at the level it's happening so I get to spend time either going through and reorganizing my CC folders in a way that doesn't fit my system or root out every piece of hair with unnatural colors and use S4S to change them. Unfortunately I've already added a lot so it's going to be "fun".
Though all of this is making me want to pull all my CC save the stuff used on my main family in my berry save and start fresh yet again. I have a bit of a problem I think lol.

Yeah, this time I'm loading up on accessories and build mode stuff, which I never did in the past. A lot of my hair I ended up keeping because I couldn't find it anymore.
I actually find the act of collecting and organizing my CC very relaxing and fun for some reason so a lot of the time so taking it out and redoing it also cuts down on the amount of CC I have in my game at any given time which is a nice side benefit. This time I'm being a lot more picky. Or I started out being but haven't been as picky. Might be time to start fresh again ;-)
