If the relationship is not close, that is only a topic to have with other military members (or their families or close friends) at least IRL. If they are close friends and still react negatively, I have a suspicion that none of the gurus actually know the true reactions between military veterans. But, that is just coming from an individual who grew up with a parent in the USAF.
The relationship is fully filled and romance relationship too but still react negatively. But is it maybe related with 'defeating mother plant'? If she didn't, then would it be considered as a fake story?
Edit: By the way, what are the IRL and USAF meaning? I'm not an English native. :)
