Of those, imo, 1 is the only one that really makes sense. 2 displays a lack of imagination, and 3 just isn’t true. EA has plenty of money and resources. They could absolutely deliver a full deep impressive singleplayer that allowed multiplayer as a tertiary option if they wanted to. Not trusting them to actually do so is valid. But there’s nothing wrong with the idea conceptually.
EA Sports, maybe. However we are talking about Maxis. Have a deep look at TS4. What are the major complaints? These Sims are all the same, no matter the trait they still all experience the same emotions in the same ways even if a trait would prevent some of them from experiencing a particular emotion, if it were implemented correctly. Trust?
Look at the bugs that overwhelms TS4 so much so even game changers are starting to complain until the next new shiny. Trust?
Look at the implementation of EL's NAPs...Trust? (and many other badly designed features in base and packs)
Look at the limitations of TS4..tiny worlds, players can't even plop down a vacant lot on the roadmap. Filled with wasted space of backdrops. Trust?
Look at the reused base game assets to help fill a feature such as reused assets in festivals in CL, or any reused asset over and over just reskinned but the same animations. Trust?
I think people know it's not going to be any thing like they dream about when they look at the history of what Maxis has done with TS4. It's not a lack of trust, it's about facts, some of us know better, they don't have the talent to do it, unfortunately. Not this Maxis, with all due respect.
I mean, yeah. That’s what trust means. You can base your level of trust on facts. It’s not analogous to faith, lol. I don’t understand what distinction you’re trying to make here.
You’ll also note you’re arguing against the one reason I said makes sense. You don’t have to convince it makes sense. I said up front: not trusting them to do it right is the one argument that makes sense.
