Why does my dog keep passing out from exhaustion?

The dog has his own doggie bed and there are lots of couches and such he could hop up on and sleep if he was really tired but he still passes out for some unknown reason from exhaustion? Might be a conflict with some mod I am using but I have no idea. Doesn't seem like it would be a normal part of gameplay. It isn't like his owners are just running him ragged. He just eats, poops and barks at passing vampires mostly. Oh and is CONSTANTLY whining about wanting to go for walks. That is getting really old. Can't he just go out and walk on his own?
  • Pets have been hit with a lot of glitches that have been fixed with updates and patches then broken again with a later update or patch. It's been this way for a while now. People are reporting many different issues. Before the April 19th patch, the problems with my Sim pets had calmed down and I was able to delete a few mods I had that corrected my Sim pet problems. After that latest patch, I have had to hunt down and reinstall those mods again. I am a rotational player and the problem with that is the fact when I return to a family after playing another household for a few Sim days, I find the pets sick, dirty and starving. This should not be happening. Their needs should not drop while I am not playing a household that has pets. Their needs should be locked until I return to that household. Our Sims have the ability to take care of themselves while we are not playing them as an active household, but for some reason the pets do not take care of their own needs. Their needs, as I stated, should be locked as soon as I rotate to another household. It makes it difficult to play other Sims households. The constant whining about needing to go for a walk is another known issue that was fixed at one time but broken again as is the problem with your Sim's qeue being filled with actions to pet, hug or talk to the pet. This usually happens as soon as your Sim is eating, watching tv or skill building. Very irritating.

Resetting your pooch might take care of the problem. Moving the family to another lot might also reset all the Sims in that household as well. It's hard to say what will work. What works for some does not always work for everyone who is having pet issues. I can say these glitches happen in my modded saves and in the unmodded and CC free saves I have used to test new patches and updates. It is a coding problem that the devs just can't seem to fix without breaking it again with other patches and updates. That's why I have so many mods right now. LOL

  • When in doubt, always remove your mods and see if the issue persists. Otherwise, it’s a bug. Sometimes repairing the game can help.
  • If you are using MCCC and have adjusted the motive decline to a lower setting for cats and dogs, any other mod that alters a pet's moods, needs or actions, will not work properly in some cases. If you are using MCCC, reset the motive decline back to the default 100. If you do not use mods you should try resetting your pet with 'testing cheats' on. Before repairing your game through Origin make sure you delete your 'localthumbcache' because repairing the game will bypass that cache and any prolems you have will not be changed during the repair session. After that, if your pet is still falling over from exhaustion, try moving the family out of their current lot then move them back in. That will sometimes reset any afflicted family members. I hope this helps.
  • I didn't make any specific changes to my game so I'm just thinking it just "happened" by itself. I guess I could try using the debug object command on the pooch and that should reset him right?
  • Here are my fixes:

1)Shift Click, Cheat Need, Make Happy.

2)bb.showhiddenobjects in build mode. Find the Wellness treat. (Or go to the vet office and buy a bunch of wellness treats from the vending machine) And just put a bunch on the lot and then put them in your sims' inventory. Give to any sick pets you see to cure them

3)MCCC command center will allow you to change need decay for pets. I believe setting it at 0 will fix this issue permanently.
  • Yep these are good points. I seem to have to have a sim tell my dog how to eat every time I start a session and then he is good but then he'll forget how to use the bowl the next time I play. Crazy.

Does anyone have any solutions for console version?

    Do cheats work on console?

Yes they do. I’m guessing the cheat will be the same like all cheats are.

Have you checked if your dog is sick? Because there is at least one sickness that makes them pass out constantly.
