Why does my Sim do his cooking prep in the bathroom?

I just began playing in a very nice house I found in the Gallery. I had my Sim prepare some Scrambled Eggs with Bacon for breakfast, but instead of taking the mixing bowl over to the nearby kitchen c...

Update: I decided to see what would happen if I locked the bathroom door. I started my Sim on another helping of Scrambled Eggs with Bacon, and he started working on the counter to the right of the microwave. Why on earth did he not do that first??

The cluelessness of Sims never ceases to amaze me...
