Why is Life & Death more expensive for me?

So, I'm roommates with my sister and niece. They have EA Play. I have EA Play Pro. They purchased the new Life & Death expansion and paid $51.96 CDN. I have EA Play Pro, it tells me I get the 10% discount, like they did, but I would be charged $56.90 CDN. We're in the same house! How is mine about $5 more? I contacted EA Help, but there was nothing they could do except tell whoever they had to that there was a bug. Meanwhile, I'm not paying $5 more. I know it's only $5, but still. It's the fact they're charging me more when I already pay more for Pro just to find out it's not worth paying more for Pro because I'm still going to pay more in the end.

  • Thanks @sujichan,

The antivirus shouldn't make a difference here, but one other thing to consider - aside from double-checking the registered location for each account above - would be the payment method(s) used in each case.

That's not something we'd go into detail about here on the forums, but if different cards were used, for example, it would be worth checking that each has the same/correct address on file. If using a different payment method like PayPal versus a card specifically, that could also be treated differently when it comes to the tax.

    Hey @sujichan,

Just a heads up, I've removed the attachments since they did show some account details and these are public forums.

That said, do you happen to know the EA ID for your sister's account? Yours being sujichan, we'd just want to have the information on both accounts to pass along here as needed.

Judging by the images the difference appears to have come down to the tax, as the discount was correctly applied in your case.

If you're all in the same house, it would be worth checking that your registered location is accurate for each account as well. If that is different or if one of you may have been on a VPN or other network when making the purchase, that could also account for some differences in the tax - though that's just something to check based off a single screenshot, without having the full picture here. Thanks!

  • Hi, hers is Raewynne. We are in the same house, use the same anti-virus. Even my niece's was the same as my sister's. They're upstairs, I'm downstairs.

  • Thanks. I'll look into that. It's the first time this has ever happened.
