As I recall, the idea was that various types of lots might have a bowling alley that attracts bowlers -- you might want to make your bowling alley have a busy playground as well but be non-drinking, so "park" would work best. You might want to be a more Elders-type bowling alley with extra entertainment, so a bowling lounge. You might want a hotspot for the young people, with bowling and drinking and dancing, so a night club (there's a bowling night club in my city IRL). You might want that more youth + middle-aged quieter bowling-and-drinking bar. And regardless of the venue type, people will bowl (it's the object that attracts, not the venue), and you can hide stuff you don't want in inaccessible attics/basements. I do the latter with TVs in bars a lot, for example, or large playground equipment in small parks.
