- filipomel5 years agoSeasoned AceIt's just extremely strange for the Sims 4 to get Star Wars related content before we get basic stuff like cars, better babies, better personalities and relationships, etc.
Considering the team has made it very clear that it is THEM who decide what to make, it's becoming extremely more questionable as time goes on as to why they decide to make this niche play it once content, over content that's been highly requested since day one of The Sims 4's release. Sims 4 came out in 2014, it turns six years old next month, and we are getting STAR WARS before CARS.
Not that I'm a player that desperately wants cars or anything, but you would think after six years of the game being out that at some point throughout these six years, something as basic and highly requested as cars would be made a priority.
Priority is the key word here, where are the teams priorities at? They seem perfectly comfortable making a Star Wars pack, but not refining the roots of the game??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. - MrGiggleTickle5 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI personally don't like how it's essentially a $20 advertisement for Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. A place I would love to go to, but goddamn those prices. However, I will be buying it because I need my Lightsabers. And I will laugh at the irony of the fact that the people that are complaining about this being a waste of resources are the same ones that personally told me to suck it up because I thought Nifty Knitting looked lame and didn't want to buy it. So cheers to those people right there!

Tbh I dont think half the stuff you mentioned is even possible with how the game is made
They probably can't improve the relationships or improve babies. Don't think cars will ever come not even a taxi or car pool in the game like other titles

Nah. At least not for me. I don't mind a pack being something I personally didn''t wanna see as long as it at least looks good/fun and adds some kind of feature or experience that I could at least get a lot of use out of in multiple households (Nifty Knitting, Eco Lifestyle, and University come to mind. I never asked for those but I don't hate them either). This though...Even as someone who typically loves when they add sci-fi and supernatural stuff to these games, I just can't get behind it. Partly because it's just a glorified theme park advertisement. But mostly because it's not really going as far as it could have. A straight up sci-fi themed pack would have been awesome. A Star Wars pack that wasn't so heavily tied to one particular planet, and another lame Strangerville-esque story, would have also been...okay at the very least. But I don't think that's what we're gonna get.
I could be wrong. I'm hoping I'm wrong. I've been wrong in the past (well...kinda. Eco Lifestyle offered a lot more than I expected. But it still wasn't very good, overall. And REALLY broken). But when it comes to this game, me being proven wrong is very rare. I knew from the launch trailer that I wouldn't want Jungle Adventure. I still don't want Jungle Adventure. I knew from the launch trailer that I'd hate Strangerville and My First Pet Stuff. I still hate Strangerville and My First Pet Stuff. The only other time I was wrong about my feelings for a pack changing from how I felt about the trailer was with City Living. I thought I'd like that pack. I ended up hating it and still think it's the worst expansion that the Sims has ever made.
Long story short, I'm going with my gut on this one.- I will start by saying I am not a Star Wars fan, so I can be looked at as bias, however EA is asking us to pay $20 for a game that doesn't really fit into what The Sims is. If they wanted to go this route they could have created a space pack with heavy inspiration from Star Wars, like how it was clear they wanted Stranger Things (a show I love) and created Strangerville (a pack I believe missed the mark). Another issue is EA put out a whole survey about content players actually want then follow up with this. This is a move that caters to a very select group of players and ignores a large section of the base. That just seems like poor business management to me. This is honestly the first pack I have no intention of buying. I was also not a fan of Nifty Knitting, however I could justify the game play it brings. I can't think of one way this Star Wars pack will enhance my game play and that's sadly a first for me since I started playing The Sims almost 17 years ago.

Which really is a shame considering how much they used to brag about this new engine back when the game first came out, only for us to get slapped with six years worth of things that were possible on TS2/3's VERY outdated engine but not on this current one."CelSims;c-17631465" wrote:

I think this isn't the case here. YouTube has been fair in my opinion on the assessment of packs and if you look at the likes/dislikes of other trailer videos from The Sims page it becomes clear this is the first pack that an overwhelming majority of players did not want. This is the first trailer where they have gotten double the amount of dislikes than likes in 6 years.- ck2135 years agoLegendIt's either a bad call by someone really out of touch with trends and fan opinions, or a cash grab for Disney desperation money to save Galaxy's Edge. Or both.
- GroovyLady19685 years agoSeasoned AceI don't think the Sim Gurus get to pick what they make. IMO This decision came from the boardroom full of bigwigs who have never played the game. I have not seen enough to form an opinion about the pack. I will buy it because I can. It's my wallet.
I wonder if something from The Sims will be in a Star Wars game. (point made) - ChadSims25 years agoSeasoned RookieFor one many people like myself have no interest in Star Wars whatsoever there is nothing "fun" or interesting about Star Wars at all to me. This pack is just a slap in the face to many of us who have asked for simple base game things for 6 years now and they give us this and continue to ignore us.
Also the community pack votes were a joke eco had so many options like raising chickens solar, panels, laundry vs arcade and wedding we never got a chance of making a great pack the votes are always on a single theme/object for a stuff pack and for what we got in them I'd say they are the better stuff packs.
