I agree with you on that. The same way Get Famous is different from the one in The Sims 3, University should be different in this game. New things are always welcome.
But The Sims is a life-simulator game, not an arcade, shooter or RPG game. When developers/EA/whoever removes freedom, removes customization, removes lots of previous features, adds lots of restrictions and also adds adventure features... the game leaves the life-simulator type to become something... different.
