Honestly, I have mixed feelings on the fated mate system. On one hand, the random pickings for a sim's soulmate is a really interesting concept for gameplay/story possibilities (soooo much drama potential) but...its current state is very limiting.
I'd like the option to extend to all life states + a proper opt out of the system entirely because aside for those who want to play as aces/aros this really cramps the play style of polyamorous romances.
I 100% understand why they gave it exclusively to werewolves and given the dogmatic (heh) nature of how the system works it's almost necessary cause otherwise it would be way too invasive and ruin established gameplay/play files.
I can settle for using mods to allow fated mates for other lifestates. But they really do need a proper "opt out" of the system for the game. Ideally, this shouldve been something you directly trigger (like a specific item/person/location to interact with to engage in the system itself) and not just any old flirting dialogue will trigger it.
Especially with Eco Living and the Free Love NAPs and how rampantly frisky sims are in general + the social system being so messy it is far too easy to trigger it when you don't want it. It's too difficult to romance another occult as a werewolf as you risk finding an unwanted fated mate far too easy. If you want to play as a werewolf you have to settle for the fated mate + forced monogamy.
The concept is fun and I don't want them to get rid of it. But it does feel invasive and needs more tuning.
