Sims 2 was along the opposite extreme, though. My legacy heir and his fiancee were in college, and the evil cow mascot flirted with him in front of her. So she was furious with him for days. Ever since then I locked out all NPCs when my sims went to college.
Sims 4 could use more emotions, true, but I like how the reaction is somewhat proportionate to what was done. Like there's a separate moodlet for a flirting spouse, compared to more serious acts of infidelity.
